The New Goth: Modern Goth Fashion

It used to be that that most goths had to get creative with a sewing machine if they wanted any clothing that wasn’t from Hot Topic or Lip Service, which for a long time were the only places that provided affordable, basic clothing for goths and anyone dressing outside the mainstream.

Luckily for goths now, a wonderful world of goth and dark style exists and flourishes on the fringes of mainstream fashion. Far enough from the mainstream to not be affected by the concepts of seasonal trends and the like, goth designers are exploring a variety of sub-cultures and styles to suit every taste.

Long Clothing, a spin-off of Boy London, features vaguely occult-looking symbols and uses them to decorate body-hugging designs like cropped tops and leggings. They also feature unisex oversized T-shirts and a variety of hats.

The Violet Vixen offers edgy designs like torn leather leggings and velvet winged jackets that manage to balance sexy with modern. They also offer playful dresses that range from office friendly to full Steampunk.

Sisters of The Black Moon started as a great eBay vintage seller that has now evolved into a standalone online shop grounded in witchy aesthetic that features organic shapes in leather and shades of faded black and gray.

NUIT Clothing is a gorgeous clothing line launched by Anastasia Ikonnikova. Almost everything they make is in rich shades of black, and while a lot of contemporary goth designers focus on unisex designs, NUIT hugs and celebrates the female form with hip-accentuating flared coats and drippy bell sleeves.

You will need some accessories to go with your lovely outfits, so look no further then AnuTera. This small line features many handmade leather accessories and brutalism inspired hairpins and bracelets. You’ll be hard pressed to find anything as unique and sensual as AnuTera’s accessories.
